International Day of Peace 2014
International Day of Peace 2014 was marked with various programs for a week in the active initiation of Shanti Sewa Ashram (Peace Service Center), Hindu Vidyapeeth – Nepal Schools, Youth Society for Peace and Children’s Peace Home with a slogan of the year “The Right of Peoples to Peace.”
On September 19th, Friday a book was lunched at Shanti Sewa Ashram written by Jerry Piasecki on the title “Stolen” who is working with the UN for global peace education.
Joan O’ Connor and her team of 8 educationist and friends participated the inauguration ceremony of Airtime Project among Nepal, Australia and Muhammad Ali Center, America where the children would be participating for creative writing.
An interaction program was held on 20th September at Shanti Sewa Ashram where the students of grade 8 from Hindu Vidyapeeth-Nepal participated along with the mothers of Women Study Club. Members from Universal Peace Federation (Mr Piya Ratna), Bahai Center Nepal (Mr Narendra Pandey), Religions for Peace Nepal (Mrs Indira Manandhar) and Guru Chintamani Yogi were the main speaker and facilitators.
Youth Society for Peace coordinated Thoughts of Youth program where youth discussed about the various reasons and step forward to be taken to control mind and body for inner peace.
On the 21st September members of HVP Peace Club and Volunteer Club held an awareness program with the school students and formed a board where they shared about Peace. Peace Poetry, essay writing and painting was done at school. The same thing was carried out at Children’s Peace Home and Hindu Vidyapeeth Nepal Dang.
Durham Volunteers Ellie Hattersly, Daniel Cian-Reed along with the hostel children of HVP, Balkumari organized a wall painting at the roof of HVP.
Guru Chintamani Yogi was kindly requested to chair the program of Kalika Devi School and Sunrise Orphanage where children and teachers were happy to receive message of truth, love, peace, selfless service and non-violence. He has been interviewed in various FM stations and television for the relay of world peace.
We are all happy to mark IDP 2014 and would like to wish a very Happy Vijaya Dashami, Deepawali, Eid and Chhath to all the people and would like to pray for world peace.
