The Rotary Club of Sarasota Sunrise in Sarasota, Florida, is awarding Peace Poles to speakers at its weekly meeting to honor Rotary International President Sakuji Tanaka’s theme of “Peace through Service” for 2012-2013.
Rotary International’s mission is to provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through its fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders.
Here, Sunrise Club President Stan Muessle awards a Peace Pole to Hanger Clinic CPO Dan Strzempka. Mr. Strzempka is holding the dolphin prosthetic developed by his group for Winter, the dolphin made famous in the movie Dolphin Tale.\
The Sarasota Sunrise club underscores its commitment to world peace through local community service, as well as sponsorship of digital libraries and educational programs in Iringa, Tanzania. Today thousands of Tanzanian children are getting access to learning materials unavailable until the Rotary sponsored libraries began operations.
