Celebration of the 83rd Birthday of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama For World Peace Through Compassion

Another celebration of H.H. The Dalai Lama at the Marriott Essex House of New York City brought together spiritual leaders and students of philosophy, familiar colleagues and new friends, representatives of peace organizations, and students and civil society for a night of prayer, music and dance, and food. Six religions were represented – First Nations by Chief Arvol Looking Horse, Buddhist by Rev. Dr. T. K. Nakagaki, Christian by Dr. Dale T. Irvin, Jewish by Rabbi Joseph Potasnik, Islam by Sahar Alsahlani, and Hindu by Ravi Vaidyanaat Šicachaãriar.
Awards were granted within the theme of “World Peace Through Compassion” to Chief Arvol Looking Horse, celebrity chef Eric Ripert, and the Humanitarian Award to Rita Cosby. Jim Dugan of the World Peace Prayer Society, who led the annual Flag Ceremony for World Peace, concluded the event with prayers to every nation of the planet and their peoples.
