The premier, of Taking Woodstock, a movie based on the original Woodstock Concert was shown at the Tinker Street Theatre in downtown Woodstock in honor of the famous Woodstock Concert that took place 40 years ago. Academy Award winner Ang Lee, Director of Taking Woodstock and Michael Lang the promoter of the original Woodstock Concert in 1969 were both present.
During the interviews, Michael Lang was honored to pose next to the Peace Pole, (presented by The World Peace Prayer Society) with Peace Parrots (Baby, Merlin and Peace-nik) in front of the Theatre.
Lang was just 24 when he masterminded Woodstock Concert that took place in 1969 in New York State. Lang set the standard for the modern rock festival with acts like The Who, Santana, Ten Years After and Jimi Hendrex.
Taking Woodstock was filmed within the vicinity of The World Peace Sanctuary in neighboring towns: Lone Pine Farm in Millerton, New York and Columbia County.
