Many are familiar with sound bath as healing therapy that uses sound frequencies to create an environment of relaxation and well-being. During the “sound” bath, Cristina Reyes-Schleifer, Sound Practitioner uses a variety of instruments, such as gongs, singing bowls, tuning forks, chimes, and bells to create a soothing atmosphere. The sound vibration that the instruments create are directed to the body to help reduce stress and tension, allowing one to enter a deeper state of relaxation and meditation.

Ann Marie Robustelli opened with an invocation to World Peace as participants joined in a World Peace Ceremony in region order.

Cristina Reyes-Schleifer guided everyone with breathing exercises, for relaxation before we were “showered” with an explosion of sound, from so many different instruments.  It was an hour and a half of extraordinary melodic sound vibrating throughout the body —provoking further and deeper relaxation.

Thirteen attendees arrived prepared for this extraordinary experience, as they wore comfortable clothing and brought with them yoga mats and eye masks, blankets & pillows-prepared for the sound bath journey!

Lastly, and most importantly everyone arrived with an open mind and heart to deepen the experience further—as we were reminded that Peace begins Within.

Threatening thunderstorms remained at bay— 

Jessica Rose Lee, community herbalist and forager schooled us on urban foraging as the definition offers is an intimate study and interaction with the living world around us, singling out a weed, berry, or mushroom.  Learning its name and properties, to include its nutritional value, what it tastes like, and where it grows. 

This was a segway to the most important part—how to creatively cook with it and preserve it!  

Then, we each prepared salad dressing in a glass jar to take home, made with organic apple cider vinegar saturating a plethora of wild bitter greens.  The jar is placed in a cool dark place for about a month,  then the greens strained and removed.

Add a bit of local raw honey and olive oil, and voila!  We learned that the organic apple cider vinegar serves as a solvent used to extract the herbal properties of the wild greens. 

Jessica prepared a special medicinal tea for us, made with the bergamot herb-a member of the mint family.

We enjoyed it with Uncle G’s Bees local raw honey. 

We had a blast talking about all things wild & edible, as the photographs suggest!

Guests attended from various towns within the tri corner areas of Connecticut, Massachusetts, Dutchess County, New York and Putnam & Westchester, New York.

Camp Ramah in the Berkshire Mountains in Wingdale, New York, is one of nine overnight summer camps and three-day camps affiliated with the Conservative Movement of Judaism and the National Ramah Commission.  

Camp Ramah youth counselors always take the first bike tour, without the young campers, to establish the safety provisions.

Distance is approximately 10 miles from Camp Ramah to The World Peace Sanctuary, which is their halfway resting & picnic stop.

Always in place, is that one of the Senior Counsellors, drives the Camp Ramah van, to accompany the group of cyclist.

It worked out especially well this time, since they also picked up their Peace Pole, which was ordered last year. 

The Peace Pole will be planted on Camp Ramah campsite, in the Farm/Garden area.

RE:  Pushkar Shah, NEPAL – Goodwill Ambassador

This August, marks 25 years that Pushkar Shah continues to travel around the world on a bicycle in the spirit of peace to spread the universal peace message, May Peace Prevail On Earth.

Pushkar has traveled on bicycle 300,000 kilometers (186,400 miles) to spread the peace message in 150 countries!

It is with great joy and honor to have Pushkar visiting, once again at The World Peace Sanctuary.   He last visited in 2010.

Get outdoors once a day. Leave your phone at home. Spend even 15 minutes engaged in device-free playfulness, curiosity, and wonder. See how you feel. Ask whether that 15 minutes did more good than 30 spent scrolling.

All said and done, these “small things” are big ones.

Cristina Reyes-Schleifer led the group into a ‘heartful’ meditation by implementing the principles from the Heart Math Institute.

At the Heart Math Institute the mission is to help awaken – and activate – the heart of humanity. They strive to help people of all ages and backgrounds connect with their heart’s intuitive day-to-day guidance for less stress, more effective choices, and harmonious interactions. This mission is rooted in a deep care for our global community and built upon decades of scientific inquiry into heart-brain interactions and the dynamics of emotion.

Cristina took this group on a virtual journey by guiding with effective breathing techniques, visualization, and the utilization of sound. She used instruments such as; singing bowls, rattles, tuning forks, quartz crystal, and  more!

During this 2-day gathering, we touched on the exploration of the burning questions about our Soul’s Evolution and Purpose at this time.

·    Why are we here on this planet at this moment? 
·    What is the purpose to existence for each individual and of the collective?
·    The divine energy that we can connect to that inspires empowerment and inner peace. 
·    Where did we come from? 
·    Where are we going?

Dynamic facilitators  took us on a journey, in a very created way, to help stimulate one’s own wisdom- to remember what we already know.

We engaged in mindful and meaningful activities and discussions. 

“Mindfulness”  was the sub categorical theme in this weekend gathering.  Each person engaged with nature, with self (going within) and with one another.

This natural and loving approach inspires the inner heart to emerge–cultivating self-awareness, often masked in our daily living.  

There was this gentle reminder, like a whisper, that was spoken throughout the weekend, “we are not our bodies” that helped the process.

It was an interesting, introspective and joyful experience. Everyone who attended agrees. 

A total of ten people registered to participate at different intervals, throughout the two days.

Participants traveled from NYC,  Massachusetts and Putnam County, to include members from the local community.
