To support schools with their peace education curriculum, The Rotary Club is offering the opportunity for all schools in Leamington and the surrounding area to obtain a Peace Pole.

The Peace Pole has been accepted by the United Nations as an international symbol of peace.

The Peace Pole stands six foot tall once planted, made from recycled materials, it conveys a message “May Peace Prevail On Earth”, this can be translated into seven other languages depending on the nationality of the school’s children.

At the moment there are four Peace Poles available.

Peace Poles have already been planted at Campion School, Sydenham, and Radford Semele primary schools.

Thanks to Warwick Rotary Club, six have been planted at schools in Warwick, and Kenilworth Rotary Club is supporting schools in Kenilworth.

Throughout the Midlands more than 70 Peace Poles have already been planted in schools and communities and more are being planned.

Local Rotarian Margaret Morley said: “Peace Poles stand as a memorial to peace. It is the aim of Rotary to provide all schools with a Peace Pole as it also serves many other purposes.

“Peace Poles can become the focal point of an outside area within the school to create an area of tranquility/reflection.

“Somewhere young people can just go and relax, reflect so important for their mental well-being.

“Many schools have created peace gardens around their Peace Pole which can promote so many environmental projects, encourage gardening skills, and inspire creativity.”

“All we ask of schools is to give us a report on how they would see a Peace Pole being of benefit to their school and how it would play a part in their peace education programme and enhance the mental well-being of young people. We do ask them if they are willing to contribute £35 towards postage and packing as this then helps us to provide more poles for schools.”

Every year the Co-Creators Convergence is hosted by LightPartners Dr. Noel Walker and Bob Warner (www.LightPartners.org).    The tenth anniversary Convergence was held in Costa Rica under the theme Co-Creating Sacred Peace.  Local hosts in Costa Rica included Gail Nostrum founder of the Costa Rica Humanitarian Foundation in La Carpio and Rosemary Zitek who manages El Minifundio, a retreat center in the village of Orosi.

A total of three Peace Poles were dedicated during the Co Creators Convergence which took place late in October 2023.  The first Peace Pole was dedicated with a World Peace Flag Ceremony at the University of Peace in Ciudad Colon outside of San Jose on October 23rd. We prayed for peace in all nations, lands and indigenous regions on the grounds of the University. The weather was bright and clear when we started the Flag Ceremony however, as we began to pray for the Middle East, the skies clouded up and rain gently joined our tears. At the conclusion of praying for the Middle East the skies miraculously cleared once again.  The vortex accelerated literally and figuratively and some even found themselves in altered states.

A few days later, we dedicated a Peace Pole at the El Minifundio retreat center with prayers and music offerings followed by a celebratory dinner in silence along the tradition of the Essenes community centuries ago.

On the 27th of October another Peace Pole was dedicated at a Peace Center in San Jose which honors the legacy of Peace Pilgrim.  Many who stay at the hostel will reflect on world peace upon seeing the Peace Pole at the entrance.

Another Peace Pole will be planted in the future at the Indigenous University in San Jose and we look forward to more news about that in 2024.

The International Day of Peace celebrated annually on the 21st of September is a day when the spirit of the universal message May Peace Prevail On Earth is embraced around the world. May Peace Prevail On Earth International belongs to the United Nations International Day of Peace Committee along with other UN NGO’s to design the annual Peace Day Youth Observance which takes place at the United Nations.

This year the program took place on September 14th based on the theme: Actions for Peace – Our Ambitions for the #Global Goals.  Over 700 youth traveled to the United Nations to listen to performers and presenters including Michael Douglass UN Peace Ambassador and others.  To close the program participants engaged in a collective Actions for Peace by raising the flags of all nations in the spirit of May Peace Prevail On Earth.

The 37th annual World Congress On Illumination took place in Tucson, Arizona.  Friends of May Peace Prevail On Earth International gathered from across the country to attend this Congress.

A Peace Pole was planted as a backdrop to this magical and powerful gathering of peace makers and activists.

The World Congress is hosted by Era of Peace led by Patricia Cota Robles a long time friend of

The Oracle Institute located in Independence, VA  is home to the Peace Pentagon.  A Regional Peace event took place on July 15th inviting peace makers and activists to gather at the Peace Pentagon for a convergence of mind and spirit.

Following a gathering around the Sacred Fire and Drumming, the World Peace Flag Ceremony took place around the four directions labyrinth.  Prayers for peace to prevail in all the countries and regions of the world took place as we created a mandala of flags representing the world.  

A Water blessing concluded the day’s event along the ancient New River known as the oldest river in North America.

The Fourth annual World Unity Week was organized by over 20 partner organizations including Unity Earth, The Sine Network, Purpose Earth, the United Religions Initiative.

May Peace Prevail On Earth stewarded the May Peace Prevail On Earth Convergence Room where online zoom programs were hosted throughout the week.

The daily A Call To Peace was a collaboration between 7 sister organizations including the Peace School, One Humanity Institute, Global Silent Minute, United Religions Initiative, JoyFuel and Pathways To Peace.

A Flag mandala in Luxembourg to begin the Annual Peace Forum is a long tradition by now. We did it outside the hemicycle. It went well I think – Laureates were very appreciative.

On June 10th, on the occasion of a tour in Latin America (Uruguay, Argentina and Brazil) to visit the educational centers of our network and to continue to spread Living Peace International and the work done with partner organizations.

We presented the Peace Pal Award, inviting everyone to participate this year 2023. Some of the finalist drawings of the previous years were exhibited and were greatly appreciated.

In addition, we held multiple flag ceremonies with educators and teachers in Latin American.

We feel the urgency and importance of becoming more and more united, supporting each other so that our message of peace and the culture that derives from it, reaches as many children, adolescents and young people as possible.

Unity Earth Convergence events have been held around the world over the past seven years.  May Peace Prevail On Earth International attended Convergences in the Holy Land and Varanasi, India where Peace Poles were planted and World Peace Flag Ceremonies were presented.  The Unity Earth Convergence in Los Angeles brought a global family of artists, musicians, dancers, conscious leaders, movers and shakers together again for a powerful Convergence of hearts and minds.

To open the Convergence, the group gathered on Venice Beach around a Peace Pole where blessings and prayers were offered to set the tone for the programs which followed in the Rose Room.  The energies were uplifting during the entire day with speakers talking about sustainable development, community service and peace activations were offered in the form of prayer, music and dance.

The World Peace Prayer Ceremony was presented around the Peace Pole adding a high frequency of peace and harmony to resonate throughout hearts and around the world.

The Sacred Mountain Water Retreat invited friends from across the region to gather in community to receive positive messages from our Elders and Wisdom Keepers and to commune in spirit through ceremony, drumming and music.

The beautiful gathering was held on the grounds of LoEvolution Wellness Sanctuary in Marshall, NC.  Ceremonial leader Kari Black Elk, grandson of Wallace Black Elk of the Lakota nation reminded us to walk the way of our traditional ancestors.  

Other Speakers, artists and musicians added to the spirit of respecting nature and all life on earth.  The World Peace Flag Ceremony brought all our hearts and voices together to send peace out to the world by blessing each and every nation and region on earth with our united prayers, May Peace Prevail On Earth.
