WPPS Representative News: Peace Pole in the Philippines
May 11th, 2009
Peace Pole was planted on May 11th, at Barangay (village) at the Mintal Elementary School. The building which now houses elementary school students was once used as the Japanese Headquarter during WWII (note: women and men wearing blue and red uniforms are village officials). In that village and nearby school campus, was the Japanese Memorial of their occupation of this site. Previously, Mr. Okada planted two Peace Poles in this area. Mr. Okada performed prayers to help purify and heal the wounds and sorrows of the past.
