Peace Pole Art Project-Spackenkill High School, Poughkeepsie, NY-USA
May 22nd, 2011
Roberto Romani’s National Art Honor Society class at Spackenkill High School in Poughkeepsie, New York is the first to pilot the “Peace Pole Art Project.”
This ground breaking project has groups of young artists creating a Peace Pole of their own design, bearing the universal message, May Peace Prevail On Earth.
To date, several hundred students are now working on their own Peace Poles. The Peace Poles are then planted on school campus’ or in public places within the community.
On May 22nd, 2011 Jim Dugan of The World Peace Sanctuary and The Peace Pole Project addressed the crowd of students, teachers and parents at the annual National Art Honor Society Induction Ceremony. Jim spoke about the correlation of ideals (and mission) of the National Honor Art Society and The World Peace Prayer Society. Jim said, “these young artists continue the work of the Founder of The World Peace Prayer Society, Mr. Masahisa Goi, who was also an artist.”
