South Country Peace Group, Inc. (SCPG) was founded in 1982 in response to escalating threats of global nuclear destruction. Through annual public events, core activities and collaboration with other peace and justice groups, SCPG advocates and lobbies to stop the arms trade, cut the arms budget and redirect resources to the environment and human needs.

Money for Environmental and Human Needs
Since the government of the United States exists "for the people", South Country Peace Group, Inc. supports the use of its resources for environmental and human needs, including but not limited to Employment, Education, Health Care, and Environmental Protection.

Stop The Arms Trade
Since the production and distribution of arms cannot create peace and promotes war, death and violence, trade in arms must stop for peace to flourish. Consequently, South Country Peace Group, Inc. opposes weapons production, sale and distribution of any and all kinds.

Cut the Arms Budget
Since preparation for war does violence to the human spirit and the environment on which it depends, particularly nuclear weapons- related activities, South Country Peace Group, Inc. supports a reduction in the military budget of the United States and other countries and the activities the military budgets support.

Although our primary focus centers on nuclear disarmament, SCPG engages in numerous campaigns for Peace domestically and globally and, since 1989, has also addressed environmental awareness for the protection of Earth to highlight issues, overcome obstacles, and encourage and promote actions in support of its Mission.

SCPG is a NYS registered grassroots, community-based, non-profit organization designated by the IRS as a 501 (c) (4). This designation allows us to engage in advocacy and lobbying, however, donations are not tax deductible.
